Common Questions

Do you accept my insurance plan?

The Bell Dental Group accepts almost all of the major insurance plans and will file your claims for you. We also are knowledgeable about the latest coverage. Our staff has a lot of experience with insurance, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?

Part of our service includes being available for our patients. If you have a true dental emergency, please contact our office and let us know the nature of your condition. We will return your call as soon as possible, discuss your condition with you, and determine if you need to be seen immediately.

I have a temporary crown. What happens if it comes off or breaks?

If your temporary crown comes off or breaks, carefully wrap up the piece(s), place it in a protective container, and contact our office for an appointment to re-apply it as soon as possible. Do NOT attempt to re-glue the pieces or crown back into position.

What different payment options do you provide?

We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard and Discover. We accept all major insurance plans and will file your claims for you.

If you are interested in a payment plan, we offer a one-year interest-free financing plan through CareCredit and a two-year interest-free plan through American General. Our knowledgeable office staff will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have.

How can I safely whiten my teeth?

Modern dentistry offers a number of ways to whiten your smile, from at-home whitening procedures to in-office treatments. We can help evaluate the potential for whitening your teeth, based on their current color and the causes of any discoloration. We use the Zoom! whitening method, which can make your teeth several shades whiter. If you are interested in a whiter smile, please contact us for a consultation.

I do not like drills. Are there any other options?

We offer air abrasion, which removes decay and prepares teeth for fillings without anesthetic and without a drill. Dr. Bell simply cleans and prepares the site to be filled by sending a blast of tiny, high-speed aluminum oxide particles into the cavity. The particles hit the area under high pressure, bounce off at high speeds, and blast away the decay. Air abrasion is quiet, quick, relatively painless and saves healthy tooth structure. Best of all—there are no drills!

Crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays and partials…where can I learn more about these procedures?

Our website is designed to provide you with comprehensive information about a number of procedures. If you’d like even more information, click here to visit the American Dental Association website.

Do I have to floss everyday? Is it really that important?

Flossing is the foundation for good dental health. Regular flossing goes a long way and is critical for overall oral health. It loosens food particles in tight places, gets rid of plaque that a toothbrush alone cannot remove, and exercises your gums. Flossing helps you avoid gum disease, so think of it as the finishing touch after brushing.

I want my front teeth to look better, but do not want to wear braces. What do you recommend?

We have a number of ways to improve your smile without the use of unsightly metal braces. For slightly crooked or uneven teeth, a little reshaping and a few porcelain veneers may be enough to give you a bright, uniform smile. We also offer Invisalign braces, which can be worn comfortably and invisibly behind your teeth. Please call us to discuss what might work best for you.

My spouse snores and keeps me awake at night. I have heard a dentist might be able to prescribe an appliance that prevents snoring. Can you help?

Snoring can be caused by a number of factors, so we encourage you to have your spouse come in for a consultation. Some people have a condition called sleep apnea that causes them to actually stop breathing for short periods during the night. Others may have enlarged anatomical structures in the mouth and throat that collapse against one another and obstruct air flow during sleep. If that’s the case, we can prescribe and fit a special appliance called a snoreguard that gently holds the mouth and throat in an open position during sleep and prevents snoring.
